Psalm 17:1-15

Chapter 17
A prayer. Of David. Hear, O LORD, justice. Give ear to my ringing cry. Attend to my prayer—not from deceitful lips. 1 A prayer. Of David. Hear, LORD, in righteousness; give ear; to my ringing cry give ear. My prayer—let your eyes behold uprightnesses from before you. 2 Let my justice come out before you; let your eyes see straight ones. 3 Though you have tested the deeds of Adam, with the word of your lips I have kept the paths of the violent. 4 As for the works of men by the word of your lips, I have kept the ways of the ruthless one, lest my steps should slip. 5 I have called you because you answer me; incline your ear to me, hear my word. Hold my steps which are in your paths lest we totter. 6 I called to you, for you will answer me. God, bend your ear to me; listen, I said. 7 Show your steadfast loves, divine salvation of those taking refuge—from those rising up against me. In your right hand you hide me as the pupil of the eye's daughter, in the shadow of your wings. 8 Keep me as the pupil of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings from the face of the wicked ones, those violent ones. My enemies surround my soul. 9 From the face of the wicked ones, this lion—my enemies—surrounds me in the nephesh. 10 They have shut up their fat portions; they have spoken with pride; they have set their mouths to bend to the ground. 11 They have surrounded us like a lion that pants to tear, and like a lion that lurks in hiding places. 12 Arise, O LORD, confront him; confront his face, bring him down. Deliver my life from the wicked one, from your sword. 13 Arise, LORD, confront his face, prostrate him; deliver my life from the wicked with your sword—from mortals your hand, LORD, from mortals their portion in life, and your treasure fill their belly; they are sated with sons and leave their surplus to their infants. 14 I will behold your face in righteousness; I will be sated with your form when I awake.
